In order to attend Selkirk College you must meet the admission requirements for the College and for the program you wish to enrol in.
Selkirk College's Admission Requirements:
Have graduated from a BC Senior Secondary School or equivalent, or
Be 19 years of age or over at the time of application, or
Be under 19 years of age but have a written recommendation from your Secondary School Principal

Health Care Assistant Academic Requirements

Three personal references and an applicant information questionnaire serve to provide evidence of the personal characteristics required by the program. Such references should be supplied by counsellors, employers, instructors or supervisors. References from friends and relatives are not acceptable for this purpose.
Current immunizations as outlined for health care workers by the Ministry of Health
Applicants must complete a Criminal Record Check (CRC) through the Ministry of Justice. The School will not seek practice placements for students whose CRC is adjudicated and deemed unacceptable for working with vulnerable clients.
Note: Criminal Record Check and Immunization forms (within HCA Application Package) to be submitted prior to Fall program start date. TB Test results should be completed between April and August.
Applicants are also encouraged to complete the following requirements prior to start date of program
Standard First Aid with CPR Level C
Food Safe Certificate
College Readiness Tool
The College Readiness Tool (CRT) in reading, writing and mathematics must be completed prior to starting the program if you are a first time applicant to Selkirk College.
Computer skills are required for this program. Necessary skills include knowledge of internet, email, word processing and file management. You are encouraged to complete the Computer Skills Self Assessment
International Students (students who are applying to Selkirk College from locations outside of Canada) should follow the application steps required by Selkirk International.
