Welcome to Selkirk College online training courses....
These three courses (Lift 151, Lift 152 and Lift 153) are developed to give maintenance and operational staff in the ski industry a close up look at, and a comprehensive understanding of, regulations contained in Z98 Code Book, “Passenger Ropeways & Passenger Conveyors.” Important information is also provided on the maintenance and operational requirements of lifts.
Representatives from the Canada West Ski Areas Association; Technical Safety BC; Alberta Elevating Devices and Amusement Rides Safety Association and Selkirk College developed these courses for those working with and experienced in the operation and maintenance of Passenger Ropeways and Passenger Conveyors.
The lift course content is based on the most recent edition of the Z98 (Z98-19) and also discusses Z98-14 requirements. Course content will continue to discuss both Z98-14 and Z98-19 requirements until such time as Z98-19 is adopted by individual Provincial authorities. It is recommended that those registering for these courses obtain and use a copy of Z98-19 . Note that the lift courses are specific to Z98 requirements ONLY and do not address licensing and safety requirements of individual safety authorities in Provincial jurisdictions.
