Bringing Ideas to Life
As part of our design course, the class participates in the annual student design competition. This is a team project wherein students are asked to design an original piece of furniture in response to a unique theme they have been given.
Students present their proposals to a panel of industry professionals who choose the finest piece. The winning design is then built in our shop and raffled off to the public at our year-end show.
The proceeds are returned to the winning team as the Fine Woodworking Design Competition Scholarship.
2023 Competition Winner
The theme for this year's competition was geometric. This winning piece, Tangent Table, was designed by the Tangent Team, comprised of Cameron Nuckowski, Gard Peters, Mitchell Steiger Mestancik and Zoe Tehennepe.
