Originally from Barrie, Ontario, Dan first began working in the ski and snowboard industry as a liftie at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games.
He went on to study toward a two-year diploma of Ski Resort Operations & Management at Selkirk College in the following year. This brought him to Vista Ridge Ski Hill in northern Alberta on work experience. Since graduating, Dan has continued taking on more responsibilities at Vista, finally becoming the General Manager in 2018. Dan’s days usually involve everything from grooming the hills, helping on lifts, ski and snowboard instructing, and managing and overseeing all behind the scenes operations.
Don’t let the factual bio fool you - Dan isn’t all snow-making and resort management - in 2009, Dan graduated the Ontario College of Art and Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography. So, if you see him around the lodge, and your arm isn’t long enough for a group selfie - he’d love to help you out!
