Let's Talk Divestment: How Investment Choices Can Fuel Climate Action

Kenzie Harris (she/they) is a Turtle Island settler who began engaging more heavily in justice efforts in 2019. Most of their attention has been on banks fossil fuel divestment, Indigenous solidarity efforts and climate justice education. Kenzie currently works as a digital campaigner for Banking on a Better Future and trainer and resource librarian at the Climate Justice Organizing Hub.
Bruce Wilson is a former GM for Shell with over 30 years working in oil and gas, and also a long-time supporter of environmental causes. He is the founder of Thor Hydrogen, which focuses on green hydrogen projects, and the board chair for non-profit Iron & Earth, which helps fossil fuel workers apply their skills to the energy transition. He is also the director of the Columbia Institute of Renewable Energy (CIRES), which aims to promote climate resilience in the Kootenay Columbia region.
Eva Hernandez is a lifelong Kootenay resident and local business owner. She is proud to be a founding board member of the West Kootenay Boundary Community Investment Co-op, where she is currently working on the Investment Committee and serving as president of the board.
Joe Reid is an advocate for increased corporate climate accountability and serves as the Vice President of Impact Investing and Wealth Management at Vancity. He is working to support Vancity’s Net-Zero Climate commitments while pushing for the decarbonization of the wider financial sector.
Amy Bell is a local branch manager for Kootenay Savings serving South Slocan and Kaslo. She joined the West Kootenay Boundary Investment Coop last year as a board member serving on the Marketing Committee. Amy is passionate about local development and finding creative sources of funding for small business owners.
Thomas Holloway has been a capital markets professional since 2006 as a trader, fixed income specialist and portfolio manager with Genus Capital Management. He is also a finance professor at the University of Calgary and supervisor of its student-run investment fund among other applied initiatives. Leading the Genus digital hybrid service, Thomas works with clients to build insight into portfolio management.
