Please join Sn̓ʕ̓ay̓ckstx (Lakes/Sinixt) community members to process, cook, store, and share-out traditional meat at the Indigenous Arbour during our 2-day Indigenous food sovereignty workshop.
Elder and ceremonial hunter Richard Desautel will oversee the preparation of traditional meat, provide mentorship, and share stories alongside Tribal hunters Remey LaCombe and Mitch Peone.
Indigenous students and employees are encouraged to take on helper roles while being mentored through the various stages of preparing traditional meat, including processing, cooking with an open fire, food storing methods, and give-away. Traditional meat will be shared out with participants, Elders, and Indigenous students and employees. Come enjoy time on the land with community, storytelling, good food, and lots of humour!
Lunch, drinks, and tastings of traditional foods will be provided. This event is sponsored by I-SPARC and prioritizes Indigenous students and employees.
