In observance of the International Transgender Day of Visibility on March 31, Selkirk College will display the transgender pride flag at campuses throughout the region. The flag symbolizes our dedication to fostering an environment that celebrates diversity and a culture of inclusion for everyone.
Join us for a flag-raising ceremony at the Castlegar Campus, along with other events, as we show our support and pride.
"We are fortunate at Selkirk College that we maintain institutional commitments to equity, diversity and inclusion, which allows us to create a safe place—and work to create a safer place—for students to learn as themselves,” says Brier Albano, associate vice-president, student success.
“The International Transgender Day of Visibility reminds us that visibility is a powerful tool of support that can empower learners to be their best and happiest and take their learning beyond Selkirk College's walls to create a more equitable, diverse and inclusive world,” she continues. “Just as they are."
On the Transgender Day of Visibility and every day, we honour the lives and contributions of transgender people and continue to work toward creating a safe and caring community for all.
