Selkirk College recognizes that recent diplomatic tensions between Canada and India may be causing students from India to feel anxious or worried. Students from India are a valued and integral part of our college community, and we encourage all concerned students to access the services we have in place to support mental health and well-being.
Assistance is available through Counselling Services and other mental health resources, including Here2Talk, which offers all students currently registered in a post-secondary institution in British Columbia access to free, confidential counselling and community referral services.
Our national association, Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan), is engaging with high-level officials at Global Affairs Canada (GAC), Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and other federal departments to remain updated on developments and to inform the government of the impacts the dispute is having on students and institutions.
Selkirk College is committed to fostering a safe, supportive and inclusive college community.
