Joe started with the college in November 2021 after finishing his career in the automotive/heavy duty trades.
After starting his career in 1981 in his hometown of Terrace, BC, he ventured on to Kamloops and later Lethbridge, AB. In 2015, Joe and his family moved to Castlegar. One of the reasons they chose Castlegar was its many similarities to Terrace, which was appealing and comforting.
Joe's main role is trades maintenance technician, and he is responsible for the maintenance, servicing and repair of the equipment found in all the trades programs and ensuring that all is ready for our valued students to use and learn on. Other positions include being a relief instructor for the Heavy Mechanical Foundation course, as well as being OFA Level 3 First Aid Attendant.
Joe brings with him vast experience in all things mechanical, as well as life and career experiences. Joe's time off is usually spent with family, enjoying the outdoors, working on his old Chevy truck or simply enjoying a ride on his Harley.
Some of the things Joe enjoys about working here are the people—the upbeat and positive attitudes are refreshing and welcomed—and the amazing campus. Lastly, Joe really appreciates getting to know the students and seeing them progress through their programs. It reminds him of when he started in the trades many years ago.
