Melissa Bleier joined Selkirk College in 2015 as an instructor in the Pharmacy Technician Program and worked as the program coordinator from 2019 to 2026. She moved to the role of chair for the School of Health and Human Services in August 2026.

Melissa loves the energy and enthusiasm students bring to the college and is passionate about supporting students and instructors to reach their goals.

Melissa grew up in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, and moved to British Columbia in 2006 after graduating from Dalhousie University. She worked as a pharmacist for over 20 years in communities around the Kootenays before leaving that industry to focus on academia.

In addition to her pharmacy degree, Melissa also holds a Provincial Instructor Diploma from Vancouver Community College and a Graduate Certificate in Technology-Based Learning from Athabasca University.

In her free time, Melissa enjoys spending time with her husband and two teenage children, travelling, skiing, camping and exploring the great outdoors.
