RN, BScN
Instructor, Bachelor of Science in Nursing
My family and I came to the Kootenays in 2017 from the flatlands of Saskatchewan. We vacationed many times in the Kootenays prior to making the move. We had originally planned our retirement around moving to the Kootenays, but never put off what’s important to you tomorrow for today’s convenience. We decided to prioritize our family’s lifestyle and to enjoy the mountains, lakes, and rivers now while finding fulfilling employment that both utilized our accumulated skills and allowed for more time to follow our passions.
I had always wanted to work in health care and education from a young age, so it seemed fitting to pursue a career as a Registered Nurse. I graduated with a BsN in 2006, enjoyed the experience of collegial learning and support, and subsequently worked in surgical, emergency, mental health and in forensics. My experience in formal teaching started in 2018 and I joined Selkirk College in 2019 as a clinical instructor for the BsN program, a role I enjoy very much. I have cultivated a passion and commitment to the nursing profession, with a focused interest in mental health, well-being and primary health care, and valuable experience in diverse settings.
I have an adventurous spirt and enjoy hiking with my dogs, exploring the best that the Kootenays have to offer, and am continually grateful to live in such a splendored setting.
