Spread Kindness and Compassion

It's National Kindness Week—a time to focus on acts of kindness, volunteering and giving! Join us for a variety of kindness-focused activities and practice being kind to yourself, others and the Earth.

Monday, February 10

Kindness to Self: Gym, U6, 9:30-9:50 am, 10-10:20 am, 10:30-10:50 am

  • Join Abby Verigin, C-IAYT Yoga Therapist for a mini yoga session focused on self love. We’ll explore gentle yoga and breathing techniques together to connect to the self. The workshop will be offered at three different times—drop-ins welcome.
  • Wear pink and take a mid-day break and come to the pit between 12-1 pm to pick up a mini self-love journal!

Tuesday, February 11

Kindness to Others: The Pit

  • Participate in our random acts of kindness by grabbing a suggestion from the posters in The Pit and tag our @SelkirkCollegeStudentLife Instagram account with a picture of you doing your good deed to win a prize!

Wednesday, February 12

Kindness for a Cause: Staff Lounge, 4-7 pm

  • Join our “Nana’s Knit-a-thon for Cancer,” organized by 3rd Year RPM student, Tatum Clement, by getting a pledge sheet from outside the Student Ambassador HUB and asking friends and family to donate.
  • Enjoy snacks, beverages and good company while you work on your craft.  Don’t know how to knit? No worries, we will have yarn, needles, and helpful instructors on hand to help you begin a simple project.  Crocheting and macrame also welcome!

Thursday, February 13

Kindness to the World: The Pit, 10:30 am–2 pm

  • Come by The Pit to up to be a Stem Cell donor! Your genetic makeup could be the lifesaving match for one of the nearly 1,000 people in Canada currently in need of a stem cell transplant. Your stem cell donation can treat over 80 diseases and disorders, including leukemia, lymphoma and other blood cancers.  Join the registry to potentially save a life and enter a draw for a prize!  This event is organized by 2nd Year RPM students Grace Cline and Julianna Austen.

Friday, February 14

Kindness to the World: The Pit, 10 am-1 pm

  • Join the sustainability club at the textiles repair workshop in The Pit and show kindness to the world by mending rather than throwing away. Fair Trade chocolate will be given to students who wear pink to show support for bullying prevention, or who pledge an act of kindness on the kindness wall.
