Set to contribute to a cornerstone of the Canadian economy, students the School of Hospitality & Tourism were recognized for outstanding outcomes in learning at the close of the semester.
The first annual School of Hospitality & Tourism Celebration of Excellence Awards were held in Mary Hall on the Tenth Street Campus with proud faculty turning the spotlight on students in the Professional Cook Program, Resort & Hotel Management Program, Ski Resort Operations & Management Program, Postgraduate Culinary Management Program and the Postgraduate Hospitality Management Program.
“The excellence we are celebrating today isn’t just about academic achievement,” said Mallory Attorp, one of the instructors in the school. “It’s about embodying the reasons we’re all here on campus, which is to build our community, support each other, work hard, and live out the dreams within our amazing hospitality and tourism industry.”
Students from each program were nominated by instructors in categories that included: devoted to professionalism, spirit of hospitality, most improved, leadership skills, supporting classmate success, engagement in the classroom and dedication to learning.
The School of Hospitality & Tourism attracts students from across Canada and around the world for programs that are taught by industry powerhouse instructors in supportive cohort model classes. With top-notch training facilities that provide hands-on training and strong industry partnerships, the career-ready education vaults graduates into leadership roles within the industry.
The two-year Ski Resort Operations & Management Program is the only one of its kind in Canada and is situated in the outdoor recreation wonderland of the West Kootenay. Graduates from the culinary and hospitality programs are in demand across the sector in a wide variety of areas.
Applications for all programs are now being accepted.
