Join Us in the Spirit Garden: Learn, Share, and Connect with Traditional Plants and Community
In the honouring of Truth & Reconciliation and promotion of Indigenous food sovereignty, security and stewardship, Indigenous Services will be hosting Sn̓ʕ̓ay̓ckstx (Lakes/Sinixt) member Remey LaCombe, Colville Tribes Archaeologist, and Heron Moonlight, Ho-chunks (Winnebago) Tribal member and harvester of traditional plant food-medicines.
Come join our tour of the Spirit Garden and cultural plant walk along campus trails to connect and interact with Indigenous traditional plants, as well as the land, water and community.
Through the sharing of cultural knowledge and practices, participants have an opportunity to develop meaningful relationships while learning-sharing about traditional plants, seasonal rounds, sustainable harvesting and local cultural history.
Lunch, drinks, and tastings of traditional foods will be provided. This event is sponsored by I-SPARC and prioritizes Indigenous students and employees.
