Geomatics in the Workplace
The School of Environment & Geomatics offers a Geomatics in the Workplace Advanced Certificate (GWAC), providing a basic level of geomatics certification for people currently employed in sectors like forestry, planning, engineering, business and more.
The program provides an accessible mix of online, distributed, and lab-based geomatics instruction for people who find it difficult to leave the workforce and study in a conventional full time or part time enrolment model.
This program will utilize the industry standard in GIS, GPS, satellite and LiDAR remote sensing software, and UAV drone mission planning technology to match the growing need of knowledge and experience requested by industry.

The next offering of the certificate program will be starting in January 2022.

Admission Requirements and Credits Transfer to School of Environment & Geomatics
Interested applicants should see the Admission Requirements page, however, for the GWAC, applicants only need to submit a brief letter of intent to Admissions (no references required). Also, applicants that can demonstrate good computer and/or GIS experience may be considered without 60 post-secondary credits.
The courses being offered will provide transfer credit in the School of Environment & Geomatics programs. Currently the employment outlook for graduates of GIS programs is excellent with opportunities in natural resources, planning, health and a range of other professional areas.
