Elizabeth (shortened name Betty), holds the position of Regulated International Student Immigration Advisor (RISIA) at Selkirk College, where she provides guidance on study permit and work permit issues. 

Betty also oversees recruitment efforts from Greater China/Mongolia region and assists our students, agents and partner schools with inquiries in both English and Mandarin. She nurtures both her professional and personal connections with agents and government counterparts, and actively seeks out new partnership opportunities. 

Born-and-raised up in Inner Mongolia, China, Betty pursued a Master of Education degree in British Columbia and holds an MBA from Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. She completed Certificate in Immigration: Laws, Policies and Procedures from the University of British Columbia (UBC), and also studied English/Chinese (simplified and traditional Chinese) translation at Simon Fraser University (SFU). 

Betty has many years of experience in the international education field. She finds pleasure in engaging with prospective students and parents to discuss strategies which can best fit an individual student’s interests and future goals. She has previous experience in China with one of the largest agencies, New Oriental XDF. She also worked with Peking University in Beijing, has business experience in Vancouver and has volunteered at many organizations related to international recruitment and international student advising.

As international student recruiter/cultural advisor, Betty is passionate about recruiting international students to the beautiful, safe and friendly West Kootenay region, and providing support to them. As part of her advisory role, Betty serves as the Cultural Advisor for international students and collaborates with international student leaders and community members to organize cultural activities and events.

Betty is a mother. She loves the nature, arts, sports, new technology and great food.
