Keyes has been instructing in the School of Environment & Geomatics at Selkirk College since 2004. He has taught an assortment of courses in subjects including forest ecology, outdoor skills, environmental law, and avalanche training. His professional background is in ecology and terrestrial ecosystem mapping.  

Keyes is also interested in risk management and backcountry safety, and is an avalanche professional with the Canadian Avalanche Association.  When not working, he enjoys spending time with family doing something fun outside.

Keyes graduated from the Recreation, Fish & Wildlife Program at Selkirk College in 1995. He also has a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from Royal Roads University.
