Marianne Batty is a dedicated Academic Upgrading Instructor at Selkirk College with more than a decade of experience. Marianne strives to make complex concepts in science and math accessible and engaging for her students. Known for her personalized teaching approach, she endeavors to ensure each student receives the support they need to succeed.

Marianne believes in the transformative power of education and is passionate about helping learners achieve their goals. She recognizes that the School of Academic Upgrading & Development offers a unique opportunity for learners to succeed. Marianne understands that change is an inevitable part of life, and that education often plays a crucial role in personal reinvention.

Marianne completed her Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of Guelph and her Education Degree from Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, ON. She began her teaching career in Ontario, focusing on high school sciences. After exploring various professional paths, including silviculture work, cooking and catering, Marianne returned to her role as an educator. Outside of work, Marianne enjoys outdoor activities and spending time with her family. She feels fortunate to live and play in the beautiful West Kootenay.
