
A Night of Music and Storytelling
Join singer-songwriter Emily Millard for an intimate community concert as she debuts her highly anticipated fourth album, Hazy Blue.
In Hazy Blue, Millard, known for her complex, layered storytelling, explores the many facets of love—from heartbreak to healing. The album by the Contemporary Music & Technology Program faculty member has already garnered significant national attention, with the single "The Cost of Love" climbing to #5 on the CBC Radio National Top 20 chart.
Fellow faculty members Joel Fountain (drums) and Jill McKenna (bass) will join Millard, along with Gavin Youngash (guitar) and Trent Freeman (violin), both visiting from Vancouver.
The concert will begin with a special opening set by faculty member Allison Girvan, an internationally respected singer known for her innovative and collaborative work across genres.

Emily Millard is a celebrated Canadian singer-songwriter known for her evocative, genre-defying work. Her fourth album, Hazy Blue, follows a series of critically acclaimed releases under her birth name, including By Heron & By Season (2016), and five previous releases under the moniker Miss Emily Brown.
With a career that spans folk, jazz, and pop, Millard has toured extensively across Canada and Europe and has been nominated for numerous prestigious awards. She currently lives in Nelson, BC, where she is a faculty member in Selkirk College's Contemporary Music & Technology Program.

Allison Girvan is an internationally recognized Canadian singer with a diverse career that spans jazz, orchestral performance and innovative choral direction.
She is known for her cross-disciplinary, co-creative work, and her performances often explore themes of connection and community. Girvan is a faculty member at Selkirk College.
