Entrance Scholarships

A variety of scholarships are available to support students registering in full-time studies at Selkirk College for the first time. Awards are based on high academic achievement in select Grade 11 and/or 12 courses. Get up to $2,500! Applications open from February 15–March 31.

Eligibility

To qualify for an Entrance Scholarship, you must:
 

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident who has graduated, or is about to graduate, from secondary school. 
  • Be registering at Selkirk College for the first time in a full-time (minimum 80% course load) post-secondary program. Students with a documented disability who are registered with Accessibility Services are eligible at a minimum 40% course load. 

Note: Youth Train in Trades or apprenticeship programs are not eligible for entrance scholarships. 

Application process
  1. Apply for a post-secondary program at Selkirk College. You will be assigned a student number. 
  2. Apply for an entrance scholarship between February 15 and March 31. 
  3. Award recipients will be notified by email. 
  4. Students must confirm whether the award will be accepted or declined by the requested deadline. 
  5. Students who accept the award are required to complete a thank you letter to the donor.

Board of Governors Entrance Scholarship

The Board of Governors Entrance Scholarship is awarded to 24 eligible new Selkirk College students annually. This $2500 award supports Canadian students with high GPAs in their first term of studies.

Eligibility

To qualify for a Board of Governors Entrance Scholarship, you must:

 

  • Be admitted to Selkirk College for the first time in a full-time* (minimum 80% course load) post-secondary program by March 31 for a program starting the following Fall. Students with a documented disability who are registered with Accessibility Services are eligible at a minimum 40% course load. 
  • Be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 based on grade 11 and 12 courses.
  • Apply for Entrance Awards! This is no longer an automatic consideration scholarship.
Application process
  1. Apply and be admitted to a post-secondary program at Selkirk College by March 31.
  2. Apply for an entrance scholarship between February 15 and March 31. This is the same application as all other entrance awards - you only need to submit one application!
  3. Award recipients will be notified by email.
  4. Students must confirm whether the award will be accepted or declined by the requested deadline.
  5. Students who accept the award are required to complete a thank you letter to the donor.
