Are you interested in learning how to observe the world around you through drawing? Then this course is perfect for you. Explore composition, layout, expressive mark-making, perspective and fundamental value/texture drawing techniques. By the end of the course, you will have the confidence and skill to accurately depict subject matter in three-dimensional space using pencil, ink and watercolour.
Students should bring:
- 3 drawing pencils (HB, 2B & 4B recommended)
- 3 fine line pens in varying weights (.1, .3, and .5 recommended)
- 9" x 12" spiral-bound sketchbook for general purpose, dry-media
- Hardcover mixed media or watercolour sketchbook (no smaller than 5" x 7")
- Eraser
- Watercolour paints (travel pan paint kit or a selection of tube paints)
- Watercolour brushes
- Waterproof India ink
- Drawing nibs and pen holder
- Palette
Meet the Instructor
Teri Ward received her BFA and Bachelor of Education from the University of British Columbia. She is an experienced teacher who has taught drawing, painting, sculpture, art history and design at various schools throughout the province, including Selkirk College. Teri has received numerous prestigious awards for her drawings, including the BC Binnings Award. In addition to being an artist and educator, Teri works as an architectural illustrator.
