On a beautiful late-August afternoon at the Castlegar Campus, employees from Selkirk College campuses and learning centres across the region gathered for a kick-off to the fall term.
An annual event to welcome new employees and reconnect with colleagues, more than 150 people came out for a family-friendly lunch, games and conversations. Classes resume in full on September 3, so it was a time to catch a breath before the excitement of welcoming students to their learning adventures.
“As we all prepare for another amazing year at the college, it’s important to take time to build bonds with each other during a fun afternoon,” says Stacey Matthews, executive director of the college’s HR Department. “We appreciate the work being done in every corner of our institution because people take great pride in helping students achieve their post-secondary goals. It was amazing to see so many happy faces, enthusiastic conversations and hear all the laughter.”
Selkirk College employs more than 450 full and part time employees across its eight campuses and learning centres in the West Kootenay and Boundary regions. Over the last 12 months, the college has welcomed over 40 new employees to its team.
