A volunteer board of directors governs the Selkirk College Foundation. It is made up of leading professionals from within the college region. The board manages and guides the foundation to foster and promote interest in higher education.

Meet the Board of Directors
Scott Weatherford, Chair, Elected Director
Scott is the CEO of ATCO Wood Products Ltd. and the Nelson & Ft. Sheppard Railway Co. in Fruitvale, BC. Scott and his wife founded ATCO Wood Products in 2006 as part of the reorganization of ATCO Lumber Ltd.
Prior to joining ATCO in 2005, Scott held various executive assignments in purchasing and auditing with PACCAR Inc. (parent company of Kenworth and Peterbilt Trucks) in Bellevue, WA. Scott’s early career was as a mechanical design engineer with John Deere (Moline, IL), Cummins Engine Co. (Jamestown, NY, and Seymour, IN) and Kenworth Truck Co. (Kirkland, WA). Scott is a registered professional engineer in the state of Washington. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University (Ithaca, NY), and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Washington (Seattle, WA).

While Scott was born and raised in New Jersey, he is pleased to call Fruitvale, BC, his home along with his wife and two children. Scott’s community activities include director for the Lower Columbia Initiative Corporation, member of the Selkirk College Board of Governors and group commissioner/scout leader for Scouts Canada in Fruitvale, BC.
Danny Bradford, Elected Director
Danny completed an apprenticeship with Cominco as a millwright and holds a Red Seal certification. He holds an Instructor's Diploma from the University of British Columbia and has taught all levels of millwright apprenticeship training. He was involved in provincial curriculum development and served as chair of Selkirk College’s School of Industry & Trades Training.
Danny has been actively involved in advanced education system initiatives, including serving as board chair of the Center for Curriculum, Transfer and Technology of British Columbia, on the board of directors of the Industry Training and Apprenticeship Commission, on the Premiers LNG board of directors, the board of directors of the Canadian Apprentice Forum and many other committees.

Danny served as a Trustee on the College Pension Board of Trustees from 2001 to 2016 and also served as a Director on the BC Pension Corporation Board from 2006 to 2012.
He is certified in Advanced Trustee Management Standards in Pension Fund Leadership.
Danny was a long-time member of the BCGEU Provincial Executive serving as a Provincial Vice President resulting in extensive experience in the areas of Union/Management Labour Relations.
Andrea Hall, Appointed Director
Andrea Hall serves as the executive director of finance and chief financial officer (CFO). She holds a Master of Professional Accountancy and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus on accounting. Andrea is also a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA).
Before joining Selkirk College in 2011 as a finance manager, Andrea gained experience in public practice accounting firms in both Canada and the United States. At Selkirk College, she has led various teams, including finance, payroll, procurement, duplicating, mailroom and bookstore services. Andrea played a pivotal role in the Project Aurora team, successfully implementing modules for human resources, payroll, finance, procurement and budgeting systems. Prior to her current position, she was the manager of reporting and financial planning & analysis (FP&A) systems and served as the interim director of finance starting in May 2024.

In her current role, Andrea continues to oversee the financial operations of Selkirk College, contributing to its mission of providing quality education and services to its students and community. When she’s not working, you’ll find her enjoying the outdoors with her family—skiing, golfing or running the trails.
Dr. Maggie Matear, Appointed Director
Dr. Maggie Matear joined Selkirk College as the president and CEO in 2022. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Waterloo, a Bachelor of Education from the University of Western Ontario, a Master of Business Administration from Dalhousie University and a PhD in management from Queen’s University. She has taught at Queen’s University, Algoma University and Athabasca University, and has won awards for her teaching and her research, which focuses on social responsibility, sustainability and public policy.
Previously, Maggie was the vice president of university services, finance & administration at Yukon University, where she oversaw finance, human resources, mental health and wellness, infrastructure and continuing studies.

Amed Naqvi, Appointed Director
Amed (Am) Naqvi is a dedicated resident of the Kootenays, having lived here for 43 years. As a chartered accountant with 38 years of experience, Am has significantly contributed to the accounting profession. Am served as the president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of BC during its centenary year and completed the Chartered Business Valuators program with CICBV.
Beyond his professional achievements, Am has actively engaged in various community organizations, holding roles such as president of Kootenay Lake General Hospital and chair of Nelson Golf & Recreation Society. Am’s extensive involvement in civic, business and charitable activities reflects his deep commitment to community development and service.
Margaret Sutherland, Elected Director
Margaret Sutherland retired as executive director of Decoda Literacy Solutions, BC’s provincial non-profit literacy organization. Previously, she worked in her community in communications and as a regional manager for Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy.
Margaret has been active in her community as a member of the Castlegar Library Board, Columbia Basin Trust Social Grants Evaluation Committee, Robson Community Memorial Church and Castlegar Literacy Planning Committee. On her retirement, she was awarded the Premier’s 2022 Council of the Federation Literacy Award in recognition of outstanding achievement in literacy.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts (English and History) from Thompson Rivers University, a Provincial Instructor Diploma from Vancouver Community College and a Certificate in Workplace & Essential Skills from Douglas College.
Margaret enjoys spending time with friends and family, getting outdoors in the garden or on a hike, doing yoga and reading.
