Steve spent nearly a decade teaching in K-12 schoolboard classrooms, including a contract in the Arctic, followed by a couple of years in the college-based adult upgrading sphere, before moving from Newfoundland to British Columbia and joining the Selkirk College Academic Upgrading & Development team in 2019.
His university background spans both the humanities and sciences, as well as education, making Steve a very versatile and well-rounded teacher. His approach to teaching is to build meaningful connections with his students, meeting them wherever they are on their educational journey, fostering their skills, and giving them the individualized supports and attention they need to achieve the goals toward which they are striving.
Empathetic, personable and flexible, with a wide-ranging educational resume, Steve strives to create authentic learning experiences for his students and to make the classroom a fun and engaging place to be.
