Getting to Castlegar

Castlegar is situated at the confluence of the Kootenay and Columbia Rivers in the southwestern corner of the Kootenay Rockies. Castlegar is only 615 kilometres from both Vancouver, BC and Calgary, AB.

 

Selkirk College's main campus is at 301 Frank Beinder Way, Castlegar, BC, V1N 4L3.

There are multiple ways to get to Castlegar, including:

By plane: Located only 6km from downtown Castlegar, the West Kootenay Regional Airport provides daily flights to and from Calgary and Vancouver. Other area airports include:  

• Trail Regional Airport (40 min)
• Cranbrook (3 hours)
• Kelowna (3.5 hours)

By car: You can travel to Castlegar by car through Highway 3A. Being located within the Selkirk mountain range, you'll enjoy spectacular panoramic views along the way. Plan your trip ahead with information about BC Highway conditions and updates.

By taxi: There are two taxi services that serve Castlegar, Trail and surrounding area. If you plan to travel from the airport to your hotel or to Selkirk College Castlegar campus, we highly recommend you to book the taxi in advance.
