Join us in welcoming Dr. Mel Reasoner, Climate Resilience Consultant, to Selkirk College for an important discussion about climate change in our region. Reasoner directed an international initiative sponsored by the Swiss Academy of Science that focuses on global change issues in mountain regions worldwide. Through this work,he became involved in the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment as a lead author of a chapter that examines atmospheric conditions and trends in mountain systems.
Reasoner served on the steering committee for the City of Nelson's Community Energy and Emissions Action Plan and contributed to the City’s Path to 2040 planning process. Over the last 10 years, Reasoner’s work with the All One Sky Foundation’s Climate Resilience Express program and the Columbia Basin Trust’s climate change programs has involved the compilation of historical climate records and model projections for dozens of communities in Alberta and British Columbia and the delivery of many climate science presentations for these initiatives.
