Linda shares stories and reflections of refugees she met while volunteering in Athens, Greece over the past three years. Athens has become the main point of convergence in Europe for the thousands of migrants who have journeyed through Turkey and the notorious camps on the Greek islands. For many, parks, abandoned buildings and crowded communal apartments have become their new homes.
Alex Diaz, Guatemala (May 8, 7:30 pm)
Lessons for a better world: Alex talks about how a small group of people (cooperative of Nuevo Horizonte) living in rural Guatemala are working collectively with very limited resources, to achieve food security, health and well-being in the time of a pandemic.
Parfaite Ntahuba, Burundi (May 15, 9:30 am)
Parfaite talks about the challenges of a country (Burundi, central Africa) facing a national election. Parfaite describes how a team of local peace activists are mobilizing to reduce violence amid the various factions, by using strategic nonviolent activities to work towards peace and democracy.
