Instructor, Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Jen graduated from the Bachelor of Science Nursing (BScN) Program at Selkirk College and since has worked as an RN in various roles both in the community and in acute care settings. A large part of her career has been focused on mental health and substance use programs. She has worked as an addictions research nurse in Vancouver and locally as a case manager in the mental health programs. More recently she has worked as an acute care nurse at Kootenay Lake Hospital.

Currently, Jen teaches clinical and theory in the BScN Program and the Post Graduate Gerontology Program. She enjoys creating new content that is accessible and engaging for students that inspires and promotes critical thinking.

Jen has participated in ongoing professional development throughout her career as an RN and as an educator, learning to work and teach in complex health and education systems with diverse populations. Her passion lies in community development, team collaboration and cultural safety. She is fascinated by how health and learning are interwoven within all aspects of our lives and she enjoys working with people within this.

When not at work, you can find Jen hiking and skiing with her family, cooking with friends, enjoying live music and all the fun and beauty the Kootenays have to offer.
