"I am excited to put my efforts and skills towards community and fund development that can enhance the education and achievements of students studying at Selkirk College." - Stephanie Gobin

Born and raised on the coasts of BC, Stephanie grew up skiing and hiking. She travelled farther afield for university, knowing that her passion for the mountains would draw her home again soon. Stephanie graduated with an honours bachelor’s degree in International Studies & Modern Languages from the University of Ottawa. Stephanie peppered her education with international and cross-cultural experiences, completing an academic exchange in Aix-en-Provence, France and working with local community-builders, fellow students and professors to turn traditional foreign aid on its’ head in Lusaka, Zambia.

Enthralled with the microcosm of personal growth, experiential learning and interpersonal dynamics that cultural immersion experiences offer, Stephanie travelled back to Africa after graduating. In Cape Town, South Africa, she worked as a wilderness guide with Educo Africa, leading university students on journeys of personal transformation in the mountains.

Stephanie brought her leadership and teamwork experiences home to step into the role of Executive Director at Educo Adventure School in the Cariboo Country of BC. Leading a non-profit organization for four years, Stephanie refined her financial management, fundraising, grant-writing and community-building skills. She has found a home in the mountains again in Nelson, bringing her relational skills and fundraising experience to work for Selkirk College.

Stephanie is motivated in her work by her love of people: hearing their stories, learning what makes them tick, and understanding their dreams and needs. She embraces the complexity of our time and technologies, but really savours the importance of relationship and community. She enjoys wielding new tools, be it new ways of thinking or technological tools, to serve individuals, relationships and teams. Stephanie is excited to put her efforts and skills towards community and fund development that can enhance the education and achievements of students studying at Selkirk College.
