I love teaching and I love the hospitality industry, now I am fortunate to enjoy both. I have the pleasure of working with inspiring students, watching them grow their careers in the industry.

Wendy joined the teaching staff of Selkirk College in 2008 after more than a decade-long management career with the Fairmont and Delta hotel chains. Today she is the Hospitality Program coordinator and currently instructs several courses in the Resort & Hotel Management, Post Graduate Hospitality and Post Graduate Culinary diploma programs. Courses include:

  • Hospitality Software Applications
  • Introduction to Tourism

As an advocate for open learning, Wendy recently completed a project in collaboration with members of the Hospitality BC Post Secondary Articulation group and BC Campus as an editor and contributor for the zero-cost text book Introduction to Tourism and Hospitality in BC (2nd Edition).

Wendy’s industry-specific expertise is derived from past industry positions such as:

  • Director of conference services, Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise
  • Assistant director conference services & sales, Delta Lodge at Kananaskis
  • Hotel convention services consultant, independent contractor
  • Celebrity event planner, independent contractor
  • Dining room manager, banquet captain, food and beverage trainer, Canadian Pacific Hotels and Resorts (now Fairmont Hotels)

Outside of work, Wendy loves sports. In the winter an avid skier, both downhill and nordic skiing. During the warmer months, she spends her spare time swimming, biking and running.
