The Selkirk College Information Technology (IT) team continues to monitor all systems and remain vigilant in watching for any suspicious activity. Cyber threats continue to become more sophisticated, and the support of employees and students is critical in ensuring our collective security.
We continue to work with a training partner KnowBe4, which facilitates annual employee training during Cyber Security Awareness Month.
To support continued awareness and diligence and to provide the latest information on such threats, an additional training session is planned for employees this week. Selkirk College employees are asked to watch for an invitation to participate in a 15-minute online cybersecurity awareness module through our partner KnowBe4.
Tips to protect yourself from the risk of identity theft or fraud:
-
If you receive unusual emails or text messages in the days ahead claiming to be from Selkirk College and asking for personal information that you were not expecting, please be vigilant. Do not send personal information unless you are confident the communication is authentic.
-
Never respond to any unsolicited requests for your financial information, and stay aware of unauthorized transactions related to any of your accounts.
-
Stay current on cyber security tips and how to stay safe online.
-
Selkirk College employees are urged to spend a small amount of time refreshing knowledge in this area through the KnowBe4 training available this week and through the next two weeks.
