Faculty Assistant, Physics, CEWT Instructor
Susanna holds both a graduate degree in physics from the University of Bologna (the oldest university in Europe, founded in 1088) and a bachelor's degree in GIS from Selkirk College. Her background led to experiences in GIS management and supervision in the oil sands for the Fort McKay First Nation. In the Muskeg River and Jackpine mines, she monitored the surface water data and the pre-drilling data to preserve burial sites and traditional trapping areas.
Susanna’s specialization is in geophysics (seismology and tectonics) with research on the geomagnetic field’s data variations over time.
She is a Level 3 first aid responder and has two years of disaster management experience for the Red Cross and the BC Emergency Management System. Susanna emigrated to Montreal in 2003 from Cambridge, in the UK, before eventually moving to Rossland. She has been managing the Selkirk College physics lab since 2014.
Susanna is also a Community Education & Workplace Training instructor. She studied etching and printing at the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica in Venice and has a diploma in interior decorating from the Chelsea College of Art and Design in London, UK. She runs workshops for glass painting, oshibana, flower arranging and card-making.
