Tenth Street Student Housing (Nelson)
Student Housing offers a variety of accommodation from single dorm style units with shared washroom and kitchen facilities to “pod” communal units with a choice of 3 or 5 bedrooms. The “pod” units include a full kitchen, front loading washer and dryer, a minimum of two bathrooms, and a comfortable dining and living area. Bedrooms consist of a single bed with storage, desk and wardrobe or closet space. Telephone, internet, cable, heat and lights are included in the per semester rate. Application Process
Applications for Student Housing are accepted from students taking a minimum of 50% course load at Selkirk College. Students with less than a 50% course load must request special permission. Full-time students requiring accommodations for the entire academic year are given preference.
Room assignments are made on the basis of application date. To apply for a room in student housing for either summer accommodation or fall accommodation, fill out our Student Housing Application.

- Early arrival Fee: $25/night for every night prior to the specified move-in date
- Student Housing is closed over the winter break. Students wishing to remain in Student Housing over the holidays will be charged an additional $250.00.
- Students awaiting student loans, scholarships &/or bursaries must sign a promissory note and submit with a letter from the Loans office confirming the expected amount of entitlement and estimated date of disbursement.
- All Students are required to pay a $400.00 damage deposit at the time of acceptance.
- All Students are required to pay the full term fees (above fees prorated if applicable) 6 weeks prior to move in. Students awaiting Student Loans (promissory note on file) are required to pay the equivalent of one month's rent 6 weeks prior to move in.
- $25 Administration fee will be applied to any fees not paid in full by the specified due date.
Payment Options
- Pay from your online bank account through your financial institution. Payments will be applied to your student account within 2-3 business days (Set up Selkirk College as a vendor on your account, use your 6 digit student number and pay your fees similar to a phone bill or power bill) Note: Selkirk does not accept "E-Transfers."
- Pay in person to anyone of our campus cashiers with cash, cheque, debit, Visa or Master Card. Mail a cheque to one of our cashiers.

Before You Arrive
- The Student Housing Agreement - ensure that you read it thoroughly and understand the conditions and guidelines of living in housing. it may not be for everyone.
- Sign and return your Student Housing contract. You will receive this with your offer package.
- Fill out all information on the ID Card and Parking Application and return them to the Student Housing Office.
- Read over the What to Bring checklist. This will help you start your packing.
