Interfor Corporation is one of the largest lumber producers in the world with sales to North America, Asia-Pacific and Europe. Interfor produces lumber for residential, commercial and industrial applications. Interfor has two sawmills in the Kootenay region (Grand Forks and Castlegar) and one sawmill in the Southern Interior region near Kamloops (Adams Lake).
Interfor has been hiring Selkirk College Co-op students for several years and it recently hired a student from the School of Business who worked with the company’s accounting division in Castlegar. “I’m very impressive how quickly the student has adapted to all the accounting systems used at Interfor, particularly the general ledger and the log inventory management system,” said Trevor Fairweather, Divisional Accountant. As the student exceedingly met the company’s expectations and demonstrated commitment and excellent performance at work, Interfor has extended another two work terms with her.
