If you've attended another post-secondary institution you may be approved to have the credit from courses completed there transferred to Selkirk College to meet course prerequisites or to be applied against graduation requirements.
Step 1 – Apply to Selkirk College
You may apply online through Apply.EducationPlannerBC, the Post-Secondary Application Service of BC. When you first log in, you will create a user ID and password.
Step 2 – Complete Request Form
If you've already submitted an official transcript from the institution(s) please be sure to note it on the request.
Otherwise, order a sealed, official transcript from the post-secondary institution(s) you attended. Have the institution(s) send the transcript directly to Student Records, or bring it in yourself.
The envelope and seal must be unopened and unbroken.
Application for Transfer Credit
Step 3 – Provide Course Details
Transfer credit requests for institutions outside of BC must have detailed course syllabi/outlines provided for all courses for which transfer credit is being sought.
There may be times when detailed course syllabi/outlines from BC institutions are required and will be requested. If detailed course syllabi/outlines are written in a language other than English, official translations to English need to be included.
A syllabus often contains timelines, calendars, outlines, bullet points and tables or infographics that quickly and concisely relay important information.
A course description is usually written in paragraph form with complete sentences.
If these are not provided in a timely fashion, processing timelines are much longer.
Step 4 – Submit your Documents
Send your application for transfer credit by email to firstname.lastname@example.org
Timelines and Deadlines
It usually takes 4-6 weeks to process general transcript evaluations once all documentation is received. Complex assessments, that require consultation may take considerably longer.
For a September start, submit everything prior to April 1
For a January start, submit everything prior to November 15
For a May start, submit everything prior to February 15
It is your responsibility to match course outlines and look for similarities (usually an 80 per cent fit). If you are uncertain please connect with the Welcome Centre to book an appointment with a counselor.
