Fall & Winter Birding in the Kootenays

Fall & winter are the ideal times to explore the world of birds. This course focuses on birds that are native to the Kootenays, and which visit our gardens and feeders in the fall and winter. Learn the fundamentals of bird identification including physical features and songs. There will be 2 in-person lectures, and 2 outdoor field trips as part of this course.

Students will be sent a list of optional supplies upon registration.

Meet the Instructor

Lisa Buckley is a vertebrate paleontologist with 17 years of experience with the fossil dinosaur footprints and bones of British Columbia. Lisa also has a lifelong passion for birds and fossilized bird footprints! She runs the science communication project Bird Glamour (https://lisagbuckley.com/scicomm-bird-glamour/), where she uses cosmetics as a conversation starter to get people interested in birds and bird conservation.
