Ellie is a science and math instructor in Academic Upgrading & Development at the Trail Campus. She loves teaching, and really likes to provide students with an enthusiastic educational experience and lots of encouragement.
Ellie is a lover of rocks and a big fan of being outside, which led her to pursue a career in geology. She completed a bachelor degree in Earth Science and Archaeology from SFU and a master’s degree in Earth Science from the University of Ottawa.
Working in the mineral exploration industry, Ellie has worked all over Canada sniffing out precious metals and jumping out of helicopters. A new friendship formed in a mining camp led her to visit the Kootenays, and then she never left. This also led her to a temporary position teaching geology at Selkirk, and then a move to Upgrading.
Outside of work, Ellie pursues her love of the outdoors, and all of the awesome recreational opportunities that come with living in such a beautiful mountain region.
