Kootenay raised, Laura came back to the region 16 years ago to settle down, be close to family and raise her two children. Her education started with a Bachelor of the Arts degree in 2000 which led to three years of spring/summer volunteer work in Chicago working with inner-city youth vulnerable to gang involvement. A Selkirk College alumna, Laura completed the Business Administration in Management Program in 2011.
With a deep love of learning, Laura’s inner curiosity has led her to combine safety and love for nature into many aspects of her life. With a professional background in local search & rescue, Emergency Management BC and BCWildfire, she will never shy away from a challenge or learning something new.
Growing up in a home with an artist and carpenter, Laura loves a good project. In her spare time, she is a beekeeper, avid gardener and mixologist.
