Watercolour Painting

A practical approach to successful watercolour painting. Learn and apply 3-step painting technique, composition in 2-dimensional design, elements of design (size, shape, colour and texture) and principles of design (dominance, contrast and variation). Students will gain basic understanding of the above and be able to apply them constructively to painting.

Supplies to Bring

Paints

A general palette cadmium red or vermillion, cobalt blue, ultramarine blue, Hansa yellow light or lemon yellow, raw sienna or yellow ochre, burnt sienna, Payne's grey (not essential)

Brushes

Soft hair, not bristle: 1 large round and 1 small round

Watercolour Paper

7x10, 9x11 or larger. 140lb weight is preferable and a painting board larger than the watercolour paper you choose (thin plywood, plastic or other material)
