Story

Kathleen Panton (nee Kanigan) graduated from the Selkirk College Registered Nursing Program in 1979. She took pride in her career as a specialist RN, displaying absolute dedication with great skill and professionalism that was deeply appreciated by her peers. Kathleen continued educating herself and those around her to ensure the highest level of competency in her beloved profession. She took pride in promoting her profession as a mentor and preceptor for a number of young nurses and students over the years. Kathleen was active in the outdoors to promote the highest level of personal health for herself and her family. She was always happiest spending quality time taking care of family, friends and doing things for others. Her final working years were in a position she dearly loved in the Emergency Room at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital in Trail.

Sadly Kathleen became seriously ill at 48 years of age. She passed away far too early at 52 on December 27th, 2010.

The Kathleen Panton Memorial Nursing Scholarship will be offered to a student who possesses many of Kathleen's ideals including a desire for strong academic performance and lifelong learning, a commitment and promise to the nursing profession, dedication to good personal health, and outstanding interpersonal respect.
