Lisa was born and raised in the Nakusp area and left after completing high school to pursue a degree in physical education at UBC in Vancouver. Lisa then returned to the Kootenays to further her education at the West Kootenay Teacher Education Program in Castlegar where she obtained a Bachelor of Education in 1994.
Her love of the Arrow Lakes Valley compelled her to return to her roots where she began a diverse career teaching at both elementary and high schools, facilitating employment programs, and currently working part-time as an Adult Basic Education Instructor at Selkirk College and Community Literacy
Coordinator for the Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy. Throughout her career, helping people achieve their goals in order to move forward with confidence has been the driving force of her work.
“Whether it’s assisting a student learn a new concept or helping him/her identify and remove a limiting belief, cultivating confidence in people is my passion and his/her success is my reward.”
When not working, Lisa enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, fishing, mushroom picking, reading, and cheering at her kids’ sporting events.
