Selkirk College, Attn: Shannon Beahen
301 Frank Beinder Way, Castlegar BC, V1N 4L3, Canada
Shannon has two main passions that inform her work life: writing and riding. As both an English Instructor and an Equestrian coach, her recurring academic themes relate to the possibilities and limitations of language, politics of the body and the ethics of human-animal relating. Her passion for clear and accessible communication as it is taught in her composition courses is informed by these two realms. Good writing is more than just a brain activity—it comes from a felt sense as well. It’s as much intuitive as it is intellectual. Shannon creates a classroom atmosphere that makes her content appealing to students from a variety of different learning backgrounds. Leveraging mind and body in the learning process, she aims for deep engagement and long-lasting work habits.
