My name is Chelsea Bhatia and I am a psychology major at Selkirk College. I am excited to announce my nomination for the position at Education Council.
I believe that education is more than just acquiring knowledge, it's about fostering critical thinking, emotional resilience, and a sense of belonging within our academic community. I want to advocate for student-centered policies that reflect different needs of our college community.
My goals as an Education Council member will include improving access to academic support and ensuring that every student feels heard. I am committed to making sure that our educational environment is inclusive, supportive, and adaptable to the ever changing needs of students at Selkirk College.
Gagneet Kaur
My name is Gagneet kaur. As an international student and advocate for educational equity, I am excited to announce my candidacy for the Education Council. I am committed to fostering an inclusive and innovative learning environment for all students, regardless of their background.
My vision is centered on three key priorities: enhancing student engagement, supporting teacher development, and promoting community involvement. As an international student, I understand the unique challenges we face, and I will work to ensure that our voices are heard and valued in the educational landscape.
I believe every student deserves access to quality education and the opportunity to thrive. I aim to implement programs that inspire creativity and critical thinking while ensuring that international perspectives are integrated into our curriculum. By collaborating with educators, I will advocate for professional development opportunities that empower teachers and elevate classroom experiences for all.
Additionally, I will fight for increased funding for our schools and the integration of technology to prepare our students for the future. Together, we can build a stronger educational system that prioritizes inclusivity and supports every learner. Mohammad Shadab Rafi
My name is Mohammad Shadab Rafi, and I am running for a seat on the Education Council at Selkirk College. As a student in the Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management program with over 14 years of experience in banking, business development, and financial management, I bring both professional expertise and a strong commitment to our academic community.
Having worked with top financial institutions in India and the UAE, I've developed skills in leadership, strategy, and client management. These experiences, combined with my understanding of student needs, will help me represent the diverse interests of our student body.
If elected, I will focus on:
- Enhancing education quality by aligning curriculum with industry demands.
- Advocating for initiatives that promote student well-being and success.
- Strengthening communication between students and decision-makers to ensure student voices are heard.
