Indigenous Perspectives & Sustainability

Indigenous applied research benefits education, reconciliation and self-determination in the Southern Interior. Selkirk College has memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with Okanagan Nation Alliance, Ktunaxa Nation, Colville Confederated Tribes and Metis Nation BC. These MOUs guide all levels of the institution in future steps and defines aspirational goals toward meaningful, authentic and respectful partnerships.

Supporting Indigenous Research Capacity

Selkirk Innovates recognizes and affirms that Indigenous applied research is led by Indigenous researchers and communities. Our role is to support, coordinate and facilitate opportunities when guided to do so by communities and Indigenous researchers. Our goal is to support the development of Indigenous research capacity and contribute to regional innovations and development.

Our researchers strive to be inclusive in research design and application. Indigenous perspective and input are sought in the design process, and Indigenous communities can build research capacity through delivery and application of research.
